In the domestic water process, when air is sent during the active sludge, then carbon dioxide is released.
- The sewage is then approved into the settling tank where bacterial flocs resolve and now it is understood as activated sludge.
- Some of the activated sludge is again ratified into an aeration tank to assist as inoculum while the rest of it arrives in large tanks named anaerobic sludge digesters. Here anaerobic bacteria grow to generate a mixture of gases such as methane, hydrogen sulphide and carbon dioxide to construct biogas.
- This effluent can then be published into natural water trunks.
