In the electrolysis of water,

a) Name the gas collected at anode and cathode

b) Why is the volume of gas collected at one electrode double than the other?

c) What would happen if dil H2SO4 is not added to water?

hydrogen at cathode
oxygen at anode

because it is an chemical reaction and the quantity of hydrogen is more than oxygen
see h2o
here h =2
o=1

nothing will happen but it's conductivity will be less
to make water more conductive we add h2so4

hope it helps you

hii friend!!

A) the gas collected at the anode is hydrogen and the gas collected at the cathode is oxygen.
B)  the volume of gas collected at one electrode double than the other because hydrogen is present in more quantity than compared to oxygen.
C)  if dilute H2SO4 is not added to water then the processing of electrolysis will be slow.

hope it helps!
