In the electrolysis of water : (i) Name the gas collected at the cathode and anode respectively (ii) Why is the volume of one gas collected at one electrode double that at the other ? Name this gas. (iii) How will you test this gas?​

Answer:

Hydrogen gas formed at cathode and oxygen gas formed at anode.( ii) During electrolysis of water H20 undergoes oxidation as well as reduction on oxidation it forms one mol of O2 gas . where as on reduction it forms 2 mol of H2 gas. iii) we can perform burning candle test
