The Bishop who is a benevolent man, brought out the feelings of gratefulness in the Convict. The Convict realises there is still humanity and kindness in the world. When the Bishop gives his candlesticks to the Convict, he realizes his mistake of deceiving the man who gave him an actual proper meal. In the end, the Convict is a good fearing man. He is now optimistic about his future and promises to start a new civilised life.
