euk \rightarrow \: abbreviation \: of \: \\ eukaryotes \\ \\ prok \rightarrow \: abbreviation \: for \\ \: prokaryotes

In euk. the DNA is enclosed within the nucleus , but in the case of prok. there is no nucleus so their genetic material is found naked in the cytoplasm.

This naked mass is known as nucleoid. The bacterial cell doesn't have any kind of membrane like structure around it's genetic material. The generic material may be DNA or RNA.

In addition to this there is a circular DNA present in the cell. This provides different characteristics to the cell. This kind of DNA is known as plasmid.
