Given:

  • the genuine rebate that is permitted on a bill in the event is 20Rs.
  • the total amount of the bill is 260 Rs.

To Find: after at some point, what will be the genuine markdown on the same bill for half of the time?

simple interest on Rs. 260 for a given time = 20Rs.

                    ∴       left amount after discount = 260 - 20 = 240 Rs.

simple interest of Rs. 240 for half the time would be = 10 Rs.

Total discount on 250 Rs. = 10 Rs.

Then,

                         T.D. on Rs. 260 = Rs. (\frac{10}{250}×260)

                                                    = Rs. 10.40

Hence the genuine markdown on the same bill for half of the time would be Rs. 10.40
