Answer:

In an exam 30% students fail in English 25 % fail in maths and 5% students fail in both subject

Let there be 100 students appeared in examination

30% failed in English = 30/100 × 100 = 30 students

This include the students who failed in both Mathematics and English. So student failed only in English

30 - 5 = 25 students

25% failed in Mathematics = 25/100 × 100 = 25 students

This include the students who failed in both Mathematics and English. So student failed in mathematics are

25 - 5 = 20 students

5% failed in both Mathematics and English = 5/100 × 100 = 5 students

Total number of students who failed

= 25 + 20 + 5 = 50 students

The students who have passed = 100 - 50 = 50

When passed students are 50 then total students are 100

When passed students are 220 the total students

= 100/50 × 220

= 220 × 2

= 440

Total students are 440.

Total students who failed in english are 25

Out of 100 students failed students only in English are 25 students

Out of 550 students failed students in english are

= 25/100 × 440

= 440/4

= 110 students

Answer the students that failed in English are 110 students
