It is important to remove the colour of the leaf  otherwise the chlorophyll will mask the blue-black colour of iodine test, so we use alcohol to boil the leaf for removing the colour of the leaf .
 Again the alcohol containing container must be heated in water bath container because alcohol is highly flame able and can catch fire in direct heating , which is dangerous .
