Given : Wheat is collected to form 10 conical heaps. The diameter of each heap is 140 cm and the height of each heap is 60 cm.

All the wheat is now to be stored in cylinders with radius 20 cm and

height 50 cm each.

To Find :  the number of cylinders required.

Solution:

Cone

Diamter = 140 cm

Radius = 140/2 = 70 cm

Height = 60 cm

Volume = (1/3)πr²h

π = 22/7

= (1/3)(π) * (70)² * 60

=  π* 70² * 20  cm³

10 heaps

Hence total volume =10 *  π* 70² * 20

=  π* 70² * 200 cm³

cylinders with radius 20 cm and height 50 cm each

Volume =  πr²h

= π (20)² * 50

cylinder = N

Total Volume =  N  * π (20)² * 50  cm³

 N  * π (20)² * 50 =  π* 70² * 200

=> N (20)² = 70² * 4

=> N (10)² * 4  = 70² * 4

=> N = 7²

=> N = 49

number of cylinders required. = 49
