In the fig., AOBCA represents the quadrant of a circle of radius 3.5 cm. Calculate the area of shaded portion. (Take π = 22/7)​

We are given that radius of the quadrant =3.5cm 

∴ Area of the quadrant AOBCA

=41πr2

=41×722×(3.5)2

=9.625cm2

Area of the triangle AOD

=21×base×height

=21×OA×OD

=21×3.5×2cm2

=3.5cm2

Hence Area of the shaded region =Area of the quadrant-Area of the triangle AOD

=9.625−3.5

=6.125cm2
