In the fig. Cd is the perpendicular bisector of the chord ab . If ab =2cm and cd =4cm , calculatethe radius of the circle.

first see the diagram
in∆ ACD

ad=1cm (since ad=db )
cd=4cm
ac=radius of circle
now by Pythagoras theoram
in ∆ACD

ac {}^{2}  = ad {}^{2}  + cd {}^{2}

ac {}^{2}  = 1 {}^{2}  + 4 {}^{2}  \\ ac {}^{2}  = 1 + 16 \\ ac =  \sqrt{17}
radii =√17 cm
radii=4.123cm
