3. In the figure 10.23, ABC is a triangle and AD is an altitude.
Show that—
1. BP || AD
2.CQ || AD
3.BP || CQ
Solution:
Given:-
i)∠ABP=∠DAB=40°
But they are alternate angles.
And alternate angles are equal ,thus the lines are parallel.
So, BP || AD
ii)∠C =∠D
∠C = 90°(given)
AD ⊥ BC
So, ∠D =90°
And, ∠ D= ∠C
Thus, the lines AD || CQ as ∠ D&∠C are alternate.
iii) As BP || AD and AD || CQ
Therefore,we can say that BP || CQ.
