In the figure AB is Parallel to CD.If P is the mid point of BC ptove that area of ADP=area of triangle APB + area of triangle DCP

Draw a figure. ABCD is a trapezoid. You can easily see that the figure is made out of three triangles APB, DCP, and ADP, so the sum of the areas of the triangles is the area of the trapezoid. Then if

AAPB+ADCP=12AABCD

and

AAPB+ADCP+AADP=AABCD

then:

AADP=AABCD−(AAPB+ADCP)=AABCD−12AABCD=12AABCD
