In the figure, ABCD, EFGH and PQRS are three identical squares. P and R are the centers of ABCD and EFGH respectively. If SQ=10√2, what is the area of the region covered by these squares?

As per given information, we can conclude that SQ is diagonal length of square, so length of square is (102÷2–√) 72.12 units.

Therefore areas of all three identical squares is

A=3×104042=15606 units2

As P and R are centres of ABCD and EFGH half area of one square is merged into entire region, so area of entire region is

A=15606−104044=13005 units2
