Answer :

DE = 8 cm

Solution :

Given,

ABCD is a parallelogram.

AB = 9 cm

BC = 5 cm

DE is perpendicular to AB i.e, DE is the height of parallelogram.

If DE is height, AB is the base.

Area of a parallelogram = 1/2 × base × height

Ar(ABCD) = 1/2 × 9 × h

36 = 1/2 × 9 × h

h = 8 cm

∴ DE = 8 cm
