In the figure, ABCD is a trapezium of area 24.5 sq cm. Side AD II side BC, DAB 90°, AD 10 cm and BC 4 cm. If ABE is a quadrant of a circle, find the area of the shaded region. (pie 22/7)

we know the area of trapezium= 1/2×( sum of parallel sides)× height
so, 24.5= 1/2×(10+4)×h
h= 49/14 cm= 3.5cm
now, the area of circular part (ie. AEB)= 1/4 × 22/7 × 3.5×3.5 = 8.625cm^2

so, area of shaded region= 24.5 - 8.625=15.875 sq cm
