Given :  PT is a tangent at T to a circle whose centre is O

OP=41cm,OT  9cm.

To Find :  PT

Solution:

OP = 41 cm

OT = 9 cm

PT = ?

PT is tangent to circle

OT is radius

OP² = OT² + PT²

=> 41² = 9²  + PT²

=> PT² = 41² - 9²

=> PT² = (41 + 9) (41 - 9)

=> PT² = (50)32)

=> PT² = 2*25 * 2 * 16

=> PT² = 2² * 5²  * 4²

=> PT  = 2 * 5 * 4

=> PT = 40 cm

PT = 40 cm
