and

BC = CD [Tangents to a point outside a circle are equal] .................(ii)

Now,

CP = BP+BC

=>BC = CP-BP

=>CD = 8 cm - 3 cm [From eq.(i) and (ii)]

=>CD = 5 cm

So,
