The value of x for which the lines l and m are parallel is 125°.

Given,

A figure has a transversal that intersects two lines.

To Find,

The value of x for which the lines l and m are parallel.

Solution,

When a transversal intersects two lines, the two lines are parallel if and only if interior angles on the same side of the transversal and exterior angles on the same side of the transversal are supplementary (sum to 180°).

So, the sum of angles x and 55° will always be equal to 180°.

x+55 = 180

x = 180-55

x = 125°

Hence, the value of x for which the lines l and m are parallel is 125°.
