The value of \frac{AE}{AF}=\frac{3}{7}

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

GC║BD and GE║BF

AC = 3 cm and CD =7 cm

To find:

Value of  \frac{AE}{AF} = ?

Proof:

Since, GC || BD

Therefore, by Basic proportionality theorem which states that if a line is drawn parallel to one side of a triangle the other two sides in distinct points, then the other two sides are divided in the same ratio.

\frac{AC}{AD} =\frac{AG}{AB}                           [1]

Similarly, GE║BF

Therefore, by Basic proportionality theorem

\frac{AE}{AF} =\frac{AG}{AB}                           [2]

From (1) and (2), we have

\frac{AC}{AD} =\frac{AE}{AF}

\frac{3}{7} =\frac{AE}{AF}                           [given]

Hence the value of \frac{AE}{AF}=\frac{3}{7}
