add ek (1)+2)
x=19
put x=19 in eq (1)

your answer is ---

since, ABCD is a rectangle

so, AD = BC

and , AB = DC. [ Opp. sides are equal ]

we have ,

X + Y = 22 ....(1)

X - Y = 16 .....(2)


adding equation (1) & (2), we get

2X = 38

=> X = 38/2 = 19

=> X = 19

put this value in equation (2) , we get

19 - Y = 16

=> Y = 19-16 = 3


hence, X = 19 and Y = 3
