step by step..

to get the radius by using Pythagoras
r square = (5) square + (12) square
r square = 25 + 144
r square = 169
r = 13 cm
area of shaded region = area of circle - area of rectangle

= πr square - l X b

= 3.142 X 13 X 13 - 5 X 12

= 530.998 - 60

= 470.998 CM square

I hope this will help you...

farzannasim786: sorry! this not the ri8 answer
tanishq972003: why
farzannasim786: the answer is 72.75 cm^2
tanishq972003: I think you have wrong answer you can do it by your way and see it is not possible (72.75 X 72.75) is more than the whole area of circle and area of shaded region is less than area of circle because it lie inside the circle is it ok
farzannasim786: okk
farzannasim786: i will see

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

ABCD is a rectangle whose length=12 cm and breadth =5 cm

Diameter^2=Length^2 + breadth^2

Diameter=√(12^2+5^2)

Diameter=√(169)=13cm

Therefore,Radius=13/2=6.5cm

Area of a circle=πr^2

=3.142×6.5×6.5

=3.142×42.25

=132.75cm square

Area of rectangle=l×b

=12×5

=60cm square

So, area of shaded portion

=132.75-60=72.75cm square

Hope it helps!!!!
