Given :  c1, c2,c3,... and D1, D2, D3,... have been marked at equal distances.

To Find :  O divides CD in what ratio

Solution:

in Δ COC₁  & Δ DOD₁

∠COC₁ = ∠ DOD₁ ( vertically opposite angles)

∠OC₁ C = ∠OD₁D ( alternate angles)

∠OCC₁   = ∠ODD₁  ( alternate angles)

Δ COC₁ ≈ Δ DOD₁  (AAA)

corresponding angles are congruent and the corresponding sides are proportional

=> CO/DO = CC₁ /DD₁

c1, c2,c3,... and D1, D2, D3,... have been marked at equal distances.

=> CC₁  = 4x

DD₁ = 5x

CO/DO = 4x /5x

=> CO/DO = 4/5

O divides CD in 4:5 ratio
