Answer:

Series of 4+1+1+1+1 =8

Parallel of 8||8

= 4

Series of 4+ 1+1+1+1 = 8

Parallel of 8||8 = 4

Resistance between A and B

= 4+2+2 = 8

The equivalent resistance between point A and B are calculated accordingly.

  • According to the figure, the last two resistors are in an open circuit, therefore no current will flow through it.
  • Therefore, the last two resistors of resistance 1Ω and 1Ω are neglected.
  • We are referring to the figure from right to left. Now the resistor of resistance 1Ω, 1Ω, 4Ω, 1Ω, 1Ω is in series. So the total resistance in that circuit is equal to = 1 + 1 + 4 + 1 + 1 = 8Ω
  • Now, the total resistance in the first circuit and the resistor of 8Ω resistance are in parallel, so the total resistance will be equal to 4Ω.
  • Now we calculate the total resistance in the second circuit, therefore the total resistance will be equal to the summation of 1Ω, 1Ω, 4Ω, 1Ω, 1Ω and is equal to 8Ω.
  • Now, we calculate the resistance in the third circuit, 8Ω resistance will be in parallel to 8Ω as we calculated in the second circuit, the total resistance will be equal to = 4Ω
  • Now the equivalent resistance of the resistors is in series, therefore the equivalent resistance will be the summation of 2Ω, 4Ω, 2Ω and is equal to 8Ω.

The total resistance between points A and B is 8Ω.
