joining line ac we can form a triangle which is abc

then angle a + angle b + angle c =180 degree

95+40+angle c =180

therefore angle c= 45 = y

now bc is parallel to de and ac is a transveral

therefore angle x = angle y .... corresponding angle

therefore angle x and angle y = 45 degree

thank you

Answer:

x = 45° and y = 45°

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:- ΔABC, DE || BC, ∠A = 95° and ∠B = 40°

To Find:- x = ∠E and y = ∠C

Proof:-

In ΔABC,

∠A + ∠B + ∠C = 180° [Angle Sum Property of Triangles]

We know that,

∠A = 95°

∠B = 40°

∴ 95° + 40° + ∠C = 180°

135° + ∠C = 180°

∠C = 180° - 135°

∠C = 45°

Hence,

y = 45°

Now, we know that,

DE || BC

So,

AC is a transversal passing through the parallel lines DE and BC

Thus,

∠E = ∠C [Corresponding angles]

∠E = 45°

x = 45°

Hence,

x = 45° and y = 45°

Hope it helped and believing you understood it........All the best.
