In the figure two triangles ABC and PQR are drawn between two parallel lines. Their bases AB =PR=6 cm and the area of triangle ABC is 24 square cm.
a)What is the altitude of triangle ABC to the
base AB?
b) In triangle PQR angle P is 90°.What is the
lenght of the side QR?

area of triangle =.5× base× height...24=.5×altitude×6......altitude=8

by pythagoras....root over 8*2+6*2=10.......both the triangles are congruent as they are of same area...thus i take height of ABC = height of PQR
