Given :  A triangle

To Find : ∠x

(a) 40°

(b) 50°

(c) 127°

(d) 53°

Solution:

Properties of angles formed by transversal line  with two parallel lines :

• Corresponding angles are congruent.

• Alternate angles are congruent.  ( Interiors & Exterior  both )

• Co-Interior angles are supplementary. ( adds up to 180°)

AB || CD , PQ is transversal

Alternate angles are congruent

∠x = 50°

127° = ∠x +  ∠y  Exterior angle of triangle = Sum of opposite two interior angles

=> 127° = 50°+  ∠y

=>   ∠y  = 77°

∠x = 50°
