we know that,

  • Ratio of area of ∆'s with same height = Ratio of their base .

given that,

→ Area (∆XYW) = 10 cm²

→ Area (∆XWZ) = 20 cm²

so,

→ Area (∆XYW) / Area (∆XWZ) = YW / WZ

→ 10/20 = YW/WZ

→ YW : WZ = 1 : 2 (Ans.)

now, we know that, according to angle bisector theorem ,

  • XY/XZ = YW/WZ

therefore,

→ XY/XZ = 1/2

→ XY : YZ = 1 : 2 (Ans.)
