'The Fire and the Rain' is a play by Indian actor, director, writer and playwright, Girish Karnad (born 1938), who is a Rhodes Scholar too.

'The Fire and the Rain' is taken from the Indian epic, The Mahabharata and tells the story of two priests - Yavakri and Paravasu, who try to bring rain to a draught stricken kingdom, each trying to outdo the other. Their bitter rivalry leads to hatred, treachery and murder, in the lives of individuals and the community.
