In the following figure, BCD is a straight line, AABC is equilateral, CE = DE
and Z CED = 90°. Find the angles x and y.

∆ CDE is an isosceles triangle.

90° + 2x = 180° (Angle Sum Property)

or, 2x = 180-90

or, x = 90/2

or, x = 45°

We know that all the angles of an Equilateral Triangle is 60°.

60° + y + 45° (x) = 180° (sum of the angles on a line is 180°)

or, y + 105° = 180°

or, y = 180 - 105

or, y = 75°
