Answer:

Tension Force, T= \sqrt{F^{2} + m^{2} g^{2}  }

Explanation:

[Refer to the attached image 1 to visualize the case]

Given;-

   Mass of object = m

   Horizontal Force= F

Then;-

 Gravitational force exerted on the object = mg (downwards)

[Refer to attached image 2 for the free body diagram of the given case]

From the attached image 2, we have;-

 Components of tensions force on the fixed object as T cos∅ and T sin∅ for some angle ∅.

Then, in the given case;-

                  T cos∅ = F ____(1)

                  T sin∅ = mg  _____(2)

Note that the net force acting on the object is zero in this case.

So, on squaring (1) and (2) and then adding them, we get;-

        T² (sin²∅ + cos²∅) = F² + m²g²

                          T² = F² + m²g²

                           T = \sqrt{F^2 +m^{2} g^{2} }

Therefore, the force exerted by the string on the block is \sqrt{F^2+m^{2} g^{2} }

Hope it helps! ;-))
