Using exterior angle property

Step-by-step explanation:

(exterior angle property equal to the sum of opposite interior angles)

straight angle is 180 degrees

180 - 140 =40

y= 40

sum of the total triangle =180

180 - 40 =140

140 by 2

x=70, x=70 , y=40

Answer :

The values of unknown angles are :-

  • ∠y = 40°
  • ∠P ( x ) = 70°
  • ∠Q ( x ) = 70°

Step-by-step explanation :

To Find,

  • The values of unknown angles x & y

Solution,

Given that,

  • The measure of ∠R = 140°

To Find out, the measure of ∠P ( x ) and ∠Q ( x ), first we need to find out the measure of ∠R ( y ), the measure of ∠R ( y ) is,

➠ 180° - ∠R ( 140° ) = ∠R ( y ) .... linear pair

➠ 180 - 140

➠ 40° ★

The measure of y is 40°.

Now, we can find out the measure of ∠P ( x ) and ∠Q ( x ), by the angle sum property of triangle,

➠ ∠P ( x ) + ∠Q ( x ) + ∠R ( y ) = 180° ... angle sum property of triangle

➠ x + x + 40 = 180

➠ 2x + 40 = 180

➠ 2x = 180 - 40

➠ 2x = 140

➠ x = 140 / 2

➠ x = 70 ★

The measure of ∠P ( x ) and ∠Q ( x ) are 70° and 70° respectively.
