Solution :

As we know, the exterior angle is equal to the sum of two opposite interior angles of a triangle.

Therefore,

⟼ x + x = 140°

⟼ 2x = 140°

⟼ x = 140°/2

⟼ x = 70°

Now,

↦ x + x + y = 180°ㅤ[Angle sum property]

↦ 70° + 70° + y = 180°

↦ 140° + y = 180°

↦ y = 180° - 140°

↦ y = 40°

The value of x and y is 70° and 40° respectively.
