( i ) x = 65 and y = 33

here ,

angle ABC is 90 °

so , AC sq . = BC sq. + AB sq. ( Pythagoras theorem)

i . e. (x) sq. = (16) sq. + (63 ) sq .

you will get (x)sq. = 4225

x = Root 4225

x = 65

Now ,

also triangle ACD is aright angled triangle

so ,

AC sq. = CDsq. + AD sq.

(65)sq. = (y) sq. + (56 ) sq

you will get ,

4225 = (y) sq. + 3136

4225 - 3136 = (y) sq.

therefore , (y ) sq. = 1089

NOTE : similarly u can solve question (ii) and (iii)
