Distance :- It is the length of the actual path covered by a body is known as distance.

  • It's SI unit is m.

  • Distance can never be in negative.

We know that the area of the region under velocity - time graph gives the magnitude of distance.

The figure formed is trapezium and area of trapezium is given by :-

\boxed{\sf{A = \dfrac{1}{2}\times (Sum  of parallel side) \times h}}

we have,

h = 10 m/s

parallel sides = 10 and 30

Area of trapezium = Distance covered

Now,

 S = \dfrac{1}{2}\times (10 + 30)\times 10

 S = \dfrac {1}{2} \times 40 \times 10

 S = \dfrac{1}{2}\times 400

 S = 200 m

hence,

Distance covered by the body will be 200 m.
