since 15/3 = 20/5

it is a balanced Wheatstone's bridge..

current through 15 ohm resistor =

ir2/r1+r2

=2.1(24)/42

=1.2 amp

Solution :

To answer this question one should know about balanced Wheatstone bridge.

So , it is a balanced wheatstone bridge .

Therefore , no current will flow through BD .

So , it can be removed .

Therefore , net resistance is given by :

\dfrac{1}{R_{eq}}=\dfrac{1}{15+3}+\dfrac{1}{20+4}\\\\\dfrac{1}{R_{eq}}=\dfrac{1}{18}+\dfrac{1}{24}\\\\\dfrac{1}{R_{eq}}=10.28\ ohms

Therefore , current through 15 ohms resistance is given by :

I=\dfrac{24}{18+24}\times 2.1\\\\I=1.2\ A

Therefore , option ( c ) is correct .
