In the following question, a sentence has been given in Active/Passive voice. Out of four alternatives suggested, select the one, which best expresses the same sentence in Passive/Active voice.
Dark clouds have overcast the evening sky.

Voice is the form of the verb which donates whether the subject does the work or something is done to the subject.

There are 2 types of voice :-

  • Active voice
  • Passive voice

Active voice :-

Active voice refers a sentence in which the subject is performing the action.

Passive voice :-

Passive voice refers a sentence in which the subject undergoes the action.

General rules of changing the Active voice into Passive voice :-

★ The 'object' in the Active voice becomes the 'subject' in the Passive voice.

★ The 'subject' in the Active voice, becomes the 'object' in the Passive voice. It's generally preceded by the preposition 'by'.

★ The main verb of the sentence is changed into past participle form and it's preceded by the correct form of 'Be' verb in Passive voice.

★ The Passive voice of the verb with two objects is formed by changing either of the two objects (preferably the Personal Object) into the subject and retaining the other as the ' retained object'.

The position of the subject and the object of the active verb are interchanged. The subject verb in the active voice is made the object of the verb in passive voice.

In the passive, the preposition by is added before the object.

The number of the verb is changed according to the number and person of the subject .

He loves me.

I am loved by me.
