Given:

12 : 30 : : 14 : ?

We have to find, the value of missing number (?) is

Solution:

The pattern follow:

a : \dfrac{5}{2} \times a

12 : 30

30 = \dfrac{5}{2} \times 12

= 5 × 6 = 30

Similarly,

14 : ?

? = \dfrac{5}{2} \times 14

⇒ ? = 5 × 7

⇒ ? = 35

∴ The value of missing number (?) = 35

Thus, 12 : 30 : : 14 : "35".

Ratio relationship

To find:

12:30:: 14:?

Explanation:

In these type of question, we need to first find the relationship among first 2 number and then apply the same relationship in last 2 numbers.

30 can be written as

12 \times2+(\frac{12}{2} )\\\\24+6=30

So, same relationship is for last 2 number,

let the fourth number be x, so 14:x  should ideally have same relation as of 12:30.

Hence,

14 \times2+(\frac{14}{2})=x\\\\28+7=35=x

Hence fourth number is 35.
