IN THE FOLLOWING REACTION IT IS FOUND THAT 3.4 g OF AgNo3 combines with 1.5g OF NaCl .2.8g OF AgCl is PRECIPITATED . APPLY LAW OF CONSERVATION OF MASS AND CALCULATE THE MASS OF NaNo3 .

AgNo3 + NaCl -------> AgCl + NaNo3​

Answer :-

Required mass of NaNO₃ is 2.1 grams .

Explanation :-

We have :-

→ Mass of AgNO₃ = 3.4 g

→ Mass of NaCl = 1.5 g

→ Mass of AgCl = 2.8 g

In this chemical equation :-

• Silver Nitrate [AgNO₃] and Sodium Chloride [NaCl] are reactants.

• Silver chloride [AgCl] and NaNO₃ [Sodium Nitrate] are products.

According to Law of Conservation of mass :-

Mass of reactants = Mass of products

Let the required mass of NaNO₃ be 'x grams' .

⇒ 3.4 + 1.5 = 2.8 + x

⇒ 4.9 = 2.8 + x

⇒ x = 4.9 - 2.8

x = 2.1 g
