The series is  : -
5,7,3,1,4,5 , 9, 5 , 5 , 1 , 6, 7 , 4   ....................................    and so on.
Explanation : 
In the above series the next term is the ultimate sum of the last two digit . 5 and 7 are added to give 12 and then 1 and 2  digit  of 12 are added to give 3 and so on.
5 + 7= 3 
3+ 7 = 10 = 1+0 = 1
1 + 3 = 4
4+ 1=5
5+ 4 = 9
9 + 5 = 14 = 1=4 = 5    and so on.
