 are linear in shape.

XeF

2

 undergoes sp

d

2

 hybridization and  and CO

2

 undergoes sp hybridization.

(b) Both I

3

 and HgCl

2

 are linear in shape.

I

3

 undergoes sp

3

 hybridization and  HgCl

2

 undergoes sp hybridization .

(c) Both OCl

and CO are linear in shape.

OCl

 undergoes sp

3

hybridization and  CO undergoes sp hybridization.

(d) Both SO

2

 and OCl

2

 are angular in shape.

SO

2

 undergoes sp

2

 hybridization and  OCl

2

 undergoes sp

3

 hybridization.

Thus, all the four options are correct.

Answer:

  • In OF2 two lone pairs of Oxygen and 2 bond pairs with Flourine gives sp3
  • In Cl2O,H2o it is same
  • but in SO2, the situation here is different, here two oxygen atoms forms double bonds with sulphur and one lone pair is present so it form sp2 hybridization
