I) So nature of bond is ionic or electrovalent.

ii) Since A loses 2 electrons, its valency is +2 and valency of B is -1 since it gains one electron. On interchanging them, we get the formula, which is AB2.

iii) Mg is a metal which has two electrons in the outermost shell..so to form a cation, it needs to donate the two electrons to chlorine, which has one electron short of octet. Thus, The two donated electrons of magnesium and accepted by two chlorine atoms (one each).
