<b><u>Answer</u></b>

In the formula  E=mc^2 ,

E = Energy

M = mass

C = speed of light in the vaccum  (C = 2.99792458×10^8 m/s)

In this formula, energy is equal mass times the speed of light squared. This equation says that, energy and mass of a matter are interchangeable.
