In the game of cricket, the length of the pitch is 18m.After completing one run, a batsman turns back but gets run out when he is halfway through his second run. Calculate the distance travelled and also his displacement. can you give complete answers with steps.

It's the total length travelled by the body.

HERE in this case he scored one run which means he travelled the whole length of the cricket pitch..i.e 18m

he was run out in halfway. so, 18/2=9m

which shows that he travelled 9m again

so distance = 18m+9m= 27m

Displament:

It's the shortest distance.

here the starting point is at 0m
and end point is 9m since he gets run out when he is halfway

so displacement =9m
