angle ADE = 80° ( angle sum property)
ADB is a straight line of angle 180°
At D it is 180°
So x= angle ADE + x = 180°
x= 180°-80°=100°
AC is a transversal line of DE parallel to BC
Therefore Angle AED = angle ACB
y = 40° (Corresponding angles are equal).
