To Find :

The value of resistance R .

Solution :

To answer this question one should know about Kirchhoff's voltage law  

( KVL ) and Kirchhoff's current law  ( KCL ) .

I will add the link below .

Now , applying  KVL in left loop .

We get ,

2.5\times 2+I\times R -10=0\\5+I\times R=10\\ I\times R=5\

Also , by KCL , I = 2+1 A=3 A .

Putting value of I in above equation .

We get :

3\times R =5\\\\R=\dfrac{5}{3}\ \Omega\\\\R=1.67\ \Omega

Therefore , the value of resistance R is 1.67\ \Omega .
