Answer:

The value of "C" is 1μf.

Explanation:

From the question we have,

The total potential difference of the circuit is =18 volt

The charge on the 2μf capacitor is =24μC

We will use the following formula to solve the question,

Q=CV     (1)

Where,

Q= charge on the capacitor

C=capacitance of the capacitor

V=voltage across the capacitor

The voltage across the 2μf capacitor will be,

24\mu C=2\mu F \times V

V=12 volts     (2)

The voltage across the 6μf capacitor will be,

V'=18-12=6V

And the charge on the 6μf capacitor will be,

Q'=6\muF \times 6V=36\mu C

So, the left charge on the capacitor "C" is,

Q''=36\mu C-24\mu C=12\mu C    (3)

The value of C using equation (1) is,

12\mu C=12 volts \times C

The voltage across capacitor "C" is 12 volts as the 2μf capacitor and "C" are connected in parallel combination.

C=\frac{12}{12} =1\mu F

Hence, the value of "C" is 1μf.
