Given :   a fig , AB is parallel to CD.

To find : Value  of x

Solution:

Lets join A & C  & extende to F

∠BAC =  y

then ∠EAC  = x  - y

∠DCF = ∠BAC = y    ( as AB ║ CD)

=> ∠ECF = 130 - y

∠ECF   =  ∠EAC + ∠AEC   ( Exterior angle of triangle  = Sum of oppsoite interior angles)

=>  130 - y =  x  - y + 20

=> x  = 110

Value of  x  = 110

Another method

Draw a line  AF ║ CE

=> ∠EAF =  ∠AEC = 20°

∠FAB = ∠ECD = 130°

∠FAB = ∠BAE + ∠EAF

=> 130 = x + 20

=> x = 110°
