We can solve this in the following method

The area of the shaded part includes the sample circle, and the two other segments of the bigger circle.

The area of the small circle with diameter AO can be given by πr^2. Here r=AO/2=4. Therefore area of small circle is 16π= 50.24sq cm.

Then for the area of the segments the following logic is used.

Area of shaded segments =Area of semi circle CBDO- Area of triangle CBD. Therefore Area of segments=(πR^2)/2 - bh/2 where b and h are base and height of triangle respectively.

So segment area= 3.14*8*8/2 - 16*8/2

=100.48-64

=36.48sq cm.

The final area is therefore equal to area of segments +area of small circle which is

50.24+36.48=86.72 sq cm. Which I hope is the final answer.
