We have,
AB as the diameter of circle,
now,we have given that angle COB=40°

So,therefore ,by the theorem , The angle subtended by the arc at the centre is double the angle subtended by the arc at any point on the circle.

so,we get,
angle COB=2angle CAB
40°=2 angleCAB
40°/2=angleCAB
20°=AngleCAB

we get angle CAB is equal to 20°

saniya4539: but the answer in my book is 20
AbhinavSahni: Bro,sometimes this is problem in mostly every books,or the question is like that the angle subtented by the arc in any point on the circle ,this is a theorem as you know
AbhinavSahni: that angle subtended by an arc at any point is po
AbhinavSahni: point is half the angle subtended at the center
AbhinavSahni: Ok then I give you the right solution for this question..

let ab as the diameter of circle

given:

COB= 40°

so therefore by the therom

the angle substended by the arc at centre is double the angle substended by the arc at any point on the circle

so we get,

COB= 2 CAB

40° /2=CAB

20° =CAB

we get CAB = 20°

hope it helps u
